Man guilty of murdering Dubai chef – then hits nightclub!

Cold-Blooded Killing in Queensway

A brutal murder rocked Queensway, West London, when Omar Wilson, 31, fatally attacked Dubai-based chef Mussie Imnetu, 41. Wilson was caught on CCTV heading to a nightclub just minutes after the savage assault during late-night Notting Hill Carnival celebrations on August 26, 2024.

Wilson, from Napier Road, Leytonstone, was convicted of murder at the Old Bailey on Thursday, February 20. The victim, Mussie, was visiting London from Dubai, where he was a respected chef.

CCTV Footage Seals the Case

The attack happened in Queensway, W2, at 11:22 PM. Emergency crews found Mussie unconscious with a serious head injury. He died four days later, leaving loved ones devastated across Dubai, Sweden, and London.

CCTV showed Wilson fleeing the scene, dropping his sunglasses, house keys, and car keys in his panic. Forensics matched his DNA to the sunglasses, and the keys linked him directly to the crime scene. Phone data confirmed he was in Queensway during the assault. Further footage tracked his journey to a nightclub in Gaunt Street, SE1, about 90 minutes later.

Wilson’s Shocking Confession Texts

Wilson claimed self-defence during the trial, but jurors weren’t buying it. Key evidence included damning text messages to friends where he admitted the attack.

“There’s a monster in me … and it’s just like sometimes it comes out. And I think I’ve messed up now … and everything’s finished.”

“I’ve f****d up … I crossed the line and went overboard. I don’t think I can come back from this mistake … I’m going jail in the morning.”

“I did the hands ting… finished one guy man,”

One friend advised him to “get a solicitor and use your ADHD” as a defence, but it wasn’t enough.

Grieving Family and Next Steps

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command led the inquiry and offered condolences to Mussie’s family.

“Our thoughts very much remain with Mussie’s family and friends in Dubai, Sweden, and London, who had to relive the last traumatic moments of his life during the trial after Wilson refused to take responsibility for his actions,”

“Mussie was a loving husband, father, son, and a respected chef. He was in London for just a few days to help train his colleagues and went out that evening to enjoy the post-Notting Hill Carnival atmosphere, where tragically he was violently assaulted.”

Wilson was arrested on August 28, 2024, and charged with murder the next day. He now awaits sentencing at the Old Bailey on Friday, February 28, where he faces a possible life sentence.
