Southampton Play Park Sealed Off After School Girl Brutally Attacked in Front of Crowd
A Southampton play park remains cordoned off and under police guard after a shocking assault on a school girl this Tuesday evening. Around 5.30pm, the victim was attacked in front of roughly 40 other children – many of whom reportedly filmed the brutal incident on their phones.
Horrific Attack in Green Park
The sickening assault took place in Green Park, Wimpson Lane. A nearby resident heard the school girl screaming for her attacker to stop as she was dragged by the hair. Witnesses say she was punched and kicked repeatedly while on the ground, desperately shielding her head.
The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries. Emergency services responded quickly, with South Central Ambulance Service deploying two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle. Locals report as many as 15 emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, parking on the nearby football pitch.
Shock as Crowd Watches – and Films – Attack
Disturbingly, a large group of onlookers, many kids themselves, were said to have stood by and watched. Some even recorded the violent assault on their phones. One resident expressed horror at the bystanders’ behaviour, saying the child was left begging for mercy while others just watched.
“If you are a parent of one of the children in the crowd, supervise their internet activity sharpish. No justification for this kind of injury. Do the right thing.” – Kayleigh Wallace
“This makes me feel sick. So sad for this poor little girl. Shame on the vile children who stood around watching – I hope visions of this poor girl being beaten haunt you! Absolutely disgusting.” – Local resident
Police Appeal for Information
Hampshire Police confirmed they were called at 5.42pm regarding the assault. The force deployed 15 officers due to the number of young people at the scene. The victim is believed to have been attacked by an older youth. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101.
The unsettling attack comes just yards from where a talented artist was previously kicked to death by a gang of yobs. Locals fear for the safety of children in the area and demand stronger measures to prevent such violent incidents.
