Drunk Driver Crashes into Telegraph Pole in Porchester
A drunk driver lost control and smashed into a telegraph pole on Westlands Grove, Porchester, on Sunday afternoon. The crash caused chaos as the vehicle narrowly missed a garden wall before ploughing into the pole.
Road Closure and Power Outage
Police quickly closed the road at both ends. Telephone and broadband cables dangled dangerously across the street, cutting services to around 20 homes. BT Openreach teams worked through the day, carrying out emergency repairs to restore services and make the pole safe.
Driver Arrested and Charged
The male driver failed a roadside breath test and was promptly arrested for drink driving. He was taken to Portsmouth Police Station and later charged. He is set to face court at a later date.
