Man Arrested Over Murder of 89-Year-Old Grandma in Tottenham
Homicide detectives have swooped on Tottenham after the shocking death of 89-year-old Dorothy Woolmer. Officers arrested a 22-year-old man on Monday evening, just hours after Dorothy’s body was found at her home in Waltheof Gardens, N17.
Brutal Attack Leaves Elderly Woman Dead
Police were called at 10:45am on Sunday, August 4th, after London Ambulance Service reported a body discovered at Dorothy’s address. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
Detectives believe the suspect broke into Dorothy’s home sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Though a burglary motive hasn’t been ruled out, cops are keeping an open mind as their investigation unfolds.
Appeal for Witnesses as Police Launch Murder Inquiry
Detective Chief Inspector Garry Moncrieff said: “The woman had clearly been assaulted and, as such, a murder investigation has been launched.” He urged locals to come forward with any info about suspicious activity in Waltheof Gardens between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
