Police Hunt Two Men After Anti-Semitic Assault in Amhurst Park
Police are on the lookout for two men after a hate crime shock in Amhurst Park, London N16. The suspects allegedly hurled anti-Semitic abuse during an assault on Friday, 29 November at around 9.45pm.
Victim Missing at Scene, Spotted Later
Officers rushed to the scene but found no victim or witnesses. The following day, they were alerted by a third party that a man claimed he had been attacked at the exact spot the night before.
Detectives quickly launched an investigation but discovered the victim had left the country on a pre-planned trip. Extensive inquiries finally led to the 54-year-old victim being found on 3 December. He has since given a full account and is receiving support from Met officers.
Minor Injuries and Ongoing Probe
The victim suffered minor injuries during the attack. Police are pressing ahead with inquiries, gathering CCTV footage from nearby premises and interviewing potential witnesses to piece together the full story.
Met Police Vows To Crack Down on Hate Crime
“Shockingly, hate crime affects people from all walks of life and impacts on communities across London. All members of our communities have the right to walk the streets without fear of verbal or physical abuse,” said Detective Superintendent Adam Ghaboos.
“The Met does not tolerate any form of discrimination. We are committed to tackling offences like this as thoroughly as possible. Since this incident was reported, we have been working hard with the community and partners to establish the facts.
“We have located and spoken to the victim, who travelled abroad shortly after this incident. He is supporting us in progressing our investigation. While we carry out inquiries, we are asking the public to help identify the two males we want to speak to in connection with this assault.”
The men were spotted at Stamford Hill station and police have released photos of them.
