Chatham Drug Duo Busted and Banged Up

Donna Bartlett, 37, and Matthew Bray, 43, both from Constitution Road, Chatham, were sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars on 2 December 2020 at Maidstone Crown Court. The pair pleaded guilty to supplying heroin and crack cocaine.

Caught Red-Handed in Alleyway Deal

Police on patrol spotted Bray striking a drug deal with a known user near Constitution Road at about 1.40pm on 21 September. Officers stopped and searched Bray, finding cash. On their way to search his home, they saw Bartlett leaving the property.

She was also searched, found with two mobile phones, one containing incriminating texts about drug dealing. A search of their home uncovered £cash and 40 wraps of heroin and crack tucked inside a pouch.

Hidden Haul and Quick Arrest

Officers dug deeper and found another parcel with 150 wraps of class A drugs. The pair were arrested at Medway Police Station and charged the very next day.

“Bartlett agreed to sell drugs to known drug users and encouraged Bray to assist her,” said PC Luke Murray. “Both have admitted their criminality and despite showing remorse for their actions, they will now quite rightly serve a custodial sentence. I hope this outcome deters others.”
