Tragic Blaze Claims Man’s Life in Merton
A man has died following a devastating house fire on Kingsbridge Road, Merton. Three fire engines and around 18 firefighters raced to the scene of the blaze at a two-storey terraced home.
Firefighters Find Victim Inside Ground Floor Room
Fire crews discovered the man’s body inside a ground floor room. Emergency services declared him dead at the scene. A woman escaped the fire before firefighters arrived but was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and shock.
Fire Quickly Brought Under Control
- The fire broke out at 6.20pm on Friday evening.
- It was under control by just before 7pm.
- Crews from Sutton and New Malden fire stations attended the emergency.
