Pregnant Woman Kicked in Stomach During Brutal Wanstead Robbery
Detectives have launched a desperate hunt after a pregnant woman was violently attacked and robbed at a bus stop — an assault that tragically led to her miscarriage.
Shocking Attack at Wanstead Bus Stop
The horrific incident happened between 2.30pm and 3pm on Wednesday, 29 July, in Cambridge Park, Wanstead. The 30-year-old victim was on the phone to her mum when a man on a white bike approached from the Green Man roundabout.
Without warning, the thug kicked her in the stomach before snatching her iPhone X and speeding off towards Wanstead tube station.
The woman, nine weeks pregnant at the time, suffered a miscarriage shortly after the brutal assault.
Police Release E-Fit of Tattooed Suspect
Cops describe the attacker as a mixed-race man, around 30 years old, stocky, with tattoos covering his left arm. He wore dark blue shorts, a dark blue baseball cap, and carried a white bag. His white bike was missing its rear mudguard.
“This is a particularly sad case that has had life-changing consequences for the victim,” said Detective Constable James Pepperell. “It has caused much heartache and pain to the victim and her family.”
“I urge anyone who can identify the man in the e-fit to come forward. Even if you think your information is insignificant, it might be the missing piece we need.”
