Nigerian Couple Charged Over Shocking Organ Harvesting Plot

The Met Police’s Specialist Crime Unit has slammed the cuffs on Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremadu, 60, both from Nigeria. They’re charged with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel for exploitation—in this case, the chilling crime of organ harvesting.

The probe kicked off in May 2022 after detectives got wind of possible breaches of modern slavery laws. Thanks to their work, a child has been rescued and is now safe under protective care.

“A child has been protected, and we are working closely with partners to provide ongoing support,” police confirmed.
