Cop Hospitalised After Brutal Attack in Haringey
A police officer was rushed to hospital after being attacked while trying to arrest a man in north London.
Violent Scene on High Road
Officers responded to reports of a disturbance inside a building on High Road, N17, just after midnight on Thursday, 19 January.
A 32-year-old man confronted the officers, struck one of them, then fled. Police gave chase and caught him nearby.
More Assaults and Racist Abuse at the Station
After being taken to a north London police station, the suspect assaulted two more officers and hurled racist insults.
Hero Cop Treated After Collapse
One officer collapsed shortly after being hit. Colleagues sprang into action, giving emergency first aid before he was taken to hospital. He remains in a stable condition receiving treatment.
“Police officers go to work every day with the primary goal of protecting the public,” said Chief Inspector Karl Curran.
“A man who was acting aggressively towards members of the public today injured several officers. One of these officers is still in hospital. Our thoughts are with him, his family, and his colleagues. I’d like to commend the officers who rushed to his aid and provided first aid.”
