Man Arrested In Sudbury After Burglary And Kidnap Incident

Police have taken a man into custody following a disturbing incident involving burglary and the alleged kidnapping of a young girl in Sudbury.

The incident unfolded at approximately 20.15 BST on Thursday, September 7, at a residence on Hall Rise in the town of Sudbury. According to reports, an unidentified man gained unauthorised access to the property by entering through the rear door. Inside the house, he encountered a young girl who was alone in the kitchen. The man engaged in conversation with the girl and then led her out of the house into the backyard. From there, he lifted her through an open window into a summer house before quickly departing the scene.

Upon the discovery of the girl’s absence, the family, who were upstairs at the time, acted swiftly and found her. Thankfully, the young girl did not sustain any physical harm during the unsettling incident. However, the trauma of the event has necessitated support from specially trained officers for both the girl and her family.

In a significant development, a 28-year-old man was arrested on September 10, on suspicion of burglary and kidnapping in connection with the case. The suspect was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and is currently in police custody.

Law enforcement is actively seeking information from witnesses or individuals who may have observed any suspicious activity in the area during the time of the incident. Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact West Suffolk CID, referencing crime reference number 37/52327/23
