Salford Grabs Wanted After Elderly Woman’s Mobility Scooter Stolen and Wrecked
Salford police are on the hunt after thugs stole and smashed an 85-year-old woman’s mobility scooter. The brazen theft happened on Lawndale Drive around 1pm on October 12, 2023.
Victim Left “Stranded” Without Her Scooter
The pensioner, who relies heavily on her scooter for short trips and bus journeys, says she now feels completely “stranded” and helpless. She told police: “I have lost my independence. I am not one for sitting in or watching much TV, so there’s not much left to do at home. It’s heartbreaking someone would do this for no reason.”
PC Anthony Devall condemned the act, saying: “The scooter was her lifeline. It’s been damaged beyond repair, leaving her isolated and unable to do simple daily tasks.”
Youths Caught on CCTV Leaving Scooter at Bus Station
Witnesses spotted two youths dragging the stolen mobility scooter to the local bus station, where it was abandoned in a wrecked state. Police are now asking the public for information on the culprits or the scooter’s whereabouts.
