Gravesend Thief Busted Days After Snatching Cash from 90-Year-Old

A callous Gravesend crook has been caught just days after he ripped £80 from a 90-year-old woman at a cash machine. Craig Ellett, 40, targeted the pensioner outside a shop on Rochester Road, snatching the money as she tried to put it in her purse.

Cold-Hearted Snatch at the ATM

The robbery happened around 10.20am on Tuesday 23 January 2024, near the junction with Brown Road. Ellett stood behind the elderly victim, watching her withdraw cash before swiftly grabbing the notes and making a run for it.

Fast Police Action Leads to Arrest

The North Kent Victim Based Crime Team launched an investigation and arrested Ellett just three days later, on Friday 26 January. He now faces charges not only for theft but also burglary after breaking into the City Praise Centre church in Gravesend on the same day, stealing a television.

Ellett Appears in Court

On Saturday 27 January, Ellett appeared before court 123 and was released with conditions pending further proceedings.
