Protests Set to Rock Newcastle City Centre Tomorrow

Northumbria Police have confirmed multiple demonstrations will hit Newcastle city centre tomorrow. The protests are expected to draw large crowds and could cause serious disruption across the area.

Police Plan to Relocate Key Protest to Avoid Chaos

Chief Superintendent Steve Wykes revealed officers are working to shift one of the mid-morning protests away from the busy Monument area. The move aims to reduce disruption for the public and keep both protesters and bystanders safe.

“We are in discussions with the organisers and trying to find a more suitable location within the city,” said Wykes. “Our priority is peaceful, safe demonstrations with minimal impact on the community.”

Public Urged to Stay Alert and Expect Delays

While details of the protests remain under wraps, police warn the public to brace for travel delays and possible road closures. Extra officers will patrol the city centre to manage crowds and ensure public safety.

“People have the right to protest, but we also have a responsibility to maintain public order,” Chief Superintendent Wykes added. “If you’re heading into town tomorrow, stay informed and be prepared for diversions.”

Residents and visitors should check local travel updates and follow Northumbria Police’s social media for real-time info throughout the day.

Zero Tolerance on Violence

The force stressed that while peaceful protest is supported, any unlawful or violent behaviour will be met with swift action.

“We will not hesitate to act against anyone involved in violence or illegal activities,” Wykes warned. “Our focus is on facilitating lawful demonstrations only.”
