Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a road traffic collision on Langhorne Road, near the junction with Heathway and Downing, in Dagenham, late Saturday afternoon.

The crash, involving multiple vehicles, left at least one person trapped.

The incident was reported at approximately 4:30 pm, prompting a swift response from police, fire, and ambulance services. Firefighters worked urgently to free individuals trapped in the wreckage, while paramedics provided immediate medical care to those injured.

 


Local residents reported hearing loud crashing noises before emergency vehicles arrived. A witness, who lives nearby, described the scene as “chaotic,” with traffic brought to a standstill as first responders worked to secure the area.

Details about the number of vehicles involved or the severity of injuries sustained remain unclear at this time. However, police confirmed that at least one person required extrication by fire crews.

A section of Langhorne Road has been cordoned off, and traffic diversions are in place. Commuters are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate the cause of the collision.

One person has been taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
