Chaos erupted at the Desert Storm Shootout as a speedboat aiming to smash the 200mph barrier spectacularly flipped twice in midair before crashing into Lake Havasu.

Midair Madness: 10,000HP Speedboat Takes a Plunge

The Skater 388 Freedom One Racing boat, packing a monstrous 10,000 horsepower, was captured blazing across the water before suddenly launching skyward. The craft executed two terrifying 360-degree flips before slamming nose-first into the lake, sending a giant splash sky-high.

Shocking Footage: Witnesses Left Gasping

Videos shared widely show horrified spectators yelling expletives as the disaster unfolded. One stunned bystander gasped, “Holy f***,” while another shouted, “S***,” as the speedboat tumbled end over end.

Miraculously, the boat landed upright despite the brutal crash.

The duo behind the wheel, racing under the names John Wayne and Clint Eastwood from Kansas City, Missouri, escaped serious injury. Both were rushed to hospital for checks but are now stable.

“After several tense moments, both driver and throttleman emerged from the closed canopied cockpit, uninjured but are being taken to the hospital for further examination,” Speedboat Magazine confirmed.

Hero Cockpit Saves Lives

Fellow competitor Jeff Clark, also present at the Desert Storm Shootout, called the incident “horrendous.”

“My heart dropped when I saw that boat get airborne. It’s never something you want to see when you’re out having fun as a driver,” Clark told FOX 10 Phoenix.

Clark praised the boat’s tough cockpit for protecting the crew, despite the rest of the speedboat being destroyed.

“That cockpit saved their lives. No doubt about it. I tip my hat to the Skater team that built that boat,” he said.

Investigation Launched into Freak Crash

Officials have yet to reveal what caused the Skater 388 to become airborne, but a full investigation is underway. The Desert Storm Shootout remains one of America’s premier high-speed boating contests, drawing top drivers from around the world.

This dramatic crash came just a day before another tragic water incident in Clearwater, Florida, where a ferry collided with a smaller boat, leaving one dead and several injured.
