Drug Lord Eddie Burton Slapped With 19 Years for £20m Smuggling Spree
Eddie Burton, 23, from Liverpool, has been slammed with a massive 19-year jail sentence after running a colossal £20million international drug smuggling ring. The operation nearly flooded the UK with heroin, cocaine, and ketamine before being busted following a daring haul interception. Burton pleaded guilty last Friday at Canterbury Crown Court to four charges of importing Class A and B drugs.
Glamorous ‘Gangster Moll’ Ex-Girlfriend Also Behind Bars
Burton’s ex, 25-year-old Sian Banks, also from Liverpool, was previously jailed for five years in February. She admitted seven charges including drug importation and money laundering. The pair masterminded the deadly drugs operation together. Banks played a vital role laundering cash and coordinating shipments, making her a key player in the criminal empire.
Massive Drug Hauls Seized at Dover Port
The National Crime Agency (NCA) dealt a huge blow to the gang after intercepting two lorries packed with 307 kilos of drugs in 2022. On July 3, officers stopped a lorry carrying 90 kilos of ketamine and 50 kilos of cocaine, concealed inside boxes and even a Lidl bag. Six weeks later, another lorry was caught with 142 kilos of cocaine and 25 kilos of heroin hidden in a modified fuel tank.
Latvian courier Maris Fridvalds, 64, was jailed for 14 years for his role. Crucially, Burton’s fingerprints and DNA were found on both shipments and the fuel tank, sparking a Europe-wide manhunt.
Caught Red-Handed in Ibiza Nightclub
Living under an alias while moving between the Netherlands and Spain, Burton was arrested in August 2023 at the world-famous Pacha nightclub in Ibiza for unrelated drug offences. After extradition to Germany and charges there, he was finally brought back to the UK in March 2024.
Banks was arrested in December 2023 after phone forensics revealed she smuggled drugs in her luggage twice in 2022 after visiting Burton in Amsterdam.

Burton’s criminal journey began at just 10 years old, running drugs for bigger dealers thanks to his youthful appearance. Friends and family describe him as a ‘tearaway’ immersed in crime from early on. His glamorous partner Banks was lured by luxury holidays, designer labels, nightclubs, and the festival scene—a perfect match for a rising drug lord.
Warning on Impact to UK Communities
NCA Senior Investigating Officer John Turner warned: “Burton, with Banks’ help, attempted to smuggle huge quantities of harmful drugs into the UK, believing he could operate with impunity overseas. The drugs, had they reached their final destination, would have had a destructive impact on our communities, fuelling violence and exploiting vulnerable people throughout the supply chain.”
