Monster Rapist Shane Smith Back on the Streets Despite Horrific Past
Brutal Crimes Shocked a Community
In 2010, Shane Smith was locked up for repeatedly raping and torturing a schoolgirl. He attacked her at least eight times, beating her while she was tied to a bed. In one horrifying incident, he tied the victim down in a garden shed and raped her again. Smith’s vile abuse even included dragging the terrified girl by her hair, caught on camera.
Escaped Custody, Then Caught Again
Smith was initially held in a secure mental hospital following his arrest. But he managed to escape and vanishes for six weeks before being caught once more. At the time, he lived in Hainault, where his reign of terror unfolded. He abused the child, sometimes at knifepoint.
Back on the Loose, Living Quietly in Essex
After serving time, Smith was freed in 2017 and moved to Devon. He was soon re-arrested and sent back behind bars. Now, shockingly, he is back out, living in Essex with a girlfriend fully aware of his dark past and still supporting him.
Smith was convicted on eight counts of raping a child under sixteen. His return to society leaves many questioning how someone with such a monstrous record is free and living quietly.
