Essex High Sheriff Honours Volunteer Police Cadet Leader JoJo Mitchell
Essex High Sheriff Nick Alston presented PCSO JoJo Mitchell with a prestigious certificate recognising her “great and valuable services to the community” at the Thurrock Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) passing out parade.
Certificate Praises Community Impact
The special award highlights the deep appreciation from Essex residents for JoJo’s “activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community.” Nick Alston praised the entire Thurrock VPC unit for their strong support during his year in office, especially their role at last year’s Essex High Sheriff’s Awards ceremony.
He joined Assistant Chief Constable Andy Mariner to inspect the cadets at the parade and said after presenting the award:
“I was delighted to present a High Sheriff’s personal award to PCSO JoJo Mitchell. I have great respect for the volunteer leaders of the VPC scheme and I commend them all. I am particularly grateful to the Thurrock unit, led by JoJo, which has supported me enthusiastically during my year as High Sheriff.”
JoJo Mitchell: Dedicated Leader Behind Thurrock Cadets
PCSO JoJo Mitchell has led the Thurrock VPC since 2017, voluntarily guiding 24 cadets aged 13 to 17 and providing positive opportunities to build their skills and confidence. A fresh intake is set for September.
Speaking about the award, JoJo said she was “pleased, surprised and extremely humbled” but made sure to acknowledge the entire volunteer leadership team’s joint effort:
“I’m very grateful that the work our inspirational young people in Thurrock VPC Unit and the leadership team dedicate their time has been recognised. And I am thankful for the continued support of the High Sheriff and of my bosses in the force for the Cadets and the VPC scheme itself.”
Thurrock VPCs Boost Local Policing Efforts
The Thurrock Volunteer Police Cadets support Essex police with vital community engagement and local operations. Their activities include speed checks and ‘test purchasing’ attempts to curb sales of restricted goods to under-18s.
