Man, 76, Found Dead in Blackpool Home – Murder Investigation Underway

Police were called at 4.35pm on New Year’s Day to an address on Eccleston Road, Blackpool, after reports of a sudden death. Emergency services found 76-year-old Malcolm Frary dead at the scene. A post-mortem has confirmed his death is being treated as murder.

Two Men Arrested as Detectives Hunt Key Evidence

Two men, aged 51 and 43 from Blackpool, have been arrested on suspicion of Mr Frary’s murder and remain in police custody for questioning. Detectives have appealed for help tracing two crucial items linked to the case:

  • A camouflage-style jacket
  • A green Redmi 9 mobile phone, which could be inside a case, altering its appearance

These items are believed to have been discarded somewhere in Blackpool between 6pm on New Year’s Eve and 6pm on January 2nd.

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Detectives urge anyone who saw suspicious activity around Eccleston Road and Harris Street on December 31 or January 1 to come forward. Residents near Horncliffe Road and Woodstock Gardens are also asked to report any unusual behaviour during this period.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Wilson of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team said: “My thoughts are with Mr Frary’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. Although we have made arrests, our investigation continues. We need the public’s help to locate the jacket and phone, which are vital to understanding the circumstances.”
