Walworth Stabbing Victim Named as Giovanny Rendon Bedoya, 21
Detectives have identified the man killed in a brutal Walworth stabbing as 21-year-old Giovanny Rendon Bedoya. The shocking attack unfolded on Monday evening, sparking a murder probe.
Stabbing on Hillingdon Street
Police were called at 9:16pm on Monday 14 April to reports of a stabbing on Hillingdon Street, SE17. Officers arrived with the London Ambulance Service to find Giovanny with severe stab wounds. Despite frantic efforts, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway – Six Arrested, Three on Bail
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, leading the investigation, confirmed the victim’s identity and appealed for witnesses.
“On arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man who had sustained serious stab injuries. He was treated by the London Ambulance Service before he was sadly pronounced dead on scene,” said DCI Blackburn.
“I can now name the victim as Giovanny Rendon Bedoya from Walworth. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.”
Police received multiple 999 calls reporting a group of individuals carrying knives in the area.
“We believe many people saw the group but have not yet come forward. Please, if you saw or have any footage, come forward. Your information could be vital,” the detective urged.
Six people were arrested following the stabbing. Three have since been released with no further action. The other three remain on bail pending further inquiries.
Police Boost Patrols After Fatal Attack
Detective Superintendent Emma Bond, Acting BCU Commander for Lambeth and Southwark, addressed community concerns and vowed increased police presence.
“We are working round the clock to catch those responsible and bring them to justice. More officers will be visible in the coming days. If you have concerns, speak to them – we’re here to help,” she said.
