Police are appealing for information following the death of Paul Mason, 63, found on railway tracks near Balcombe on Tuesday, 5 May. Emergency services were called at around 4.15am after reports of a casualty on the line. Despite paramedics’ efforts, Mr Mason, from Bodmin, Cornwall, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Detectives are urging anyone who saw Paul Mason in or around Balcombe, Haywards Heath, or Ansty from Saturday, 2 May to Tuesday, 5 May to come forward. They want to know about his movements and whether he was with anyone during that period.

Detective Sergeant Aidan McNulty stressed the importance of even small pieces of information. “Any details could be significant to our inquiry and help provide answers for the family,” he said.
