Fire Breaks out at Yateley Common in Hampshire

A fire has taken hold at Yateley Common”Woodside” on this afternoon, 20 fire fighters rushed to the scene just after 5pm when smoke threaten to close the A30 near Blackwater.

Approximately four hectares of land has been damaged as a result of the blaze.
A video from the scene shows the aftermath and damage. We spoke to the officer in charge of the incident Danny Randle.

Yateley Common Rangers on Twitter said it was at the Blackwater end of the Common – next to the A30.

A number Hampshire Fire and Rescue crews rushed to the scene from Yateley,Fleet,Hartley Witney and the wildfires unit from Rushmoor was also sent to tackle the well developed blaze. With some drivers describing the flames as shooting 30 feet into the air.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation
