Police paid a visit to a local boy whose mum put out a plea on Facebook asking for people to send him a birthday card.

Police Sergeant Roger Loxton-Gear from Hampshire Constabulary visited the home of Ben Jackson who has high functioning autism after the post went viral. His mum, Lisa, had detailed how nobody had turned up at one of his previous birthday parties despite being invited.  She wanted him to feel special on his birthday on Saturday and asked people to send a card to her address.

Sergeant Loxton-Gear’s team were moved enough to chip in for a card and present which was dropped to Ben’s house yesterday.

That wasn’t the only surprise for Ben that day. PC Amy Bianchini from Fratton and Baffins Neighborhood Policing Team brought a police car and uniform for Ben and his friend to try on. Not long after that, a second car arrived from Cosham.

Ben enjoyed the visit so much he asked if he could rob a bank but instead spent his time playing in the car and handcuffing the cops.

Mum Lisa, said, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making Ben’s day! Amazing kindness from you all! I will always remember what you did for him.”
