A 42-year-old deputy headteacher from Dorking has been sentenced to 24 months after pleading guilty to two counts of taking indecent images of children and two counts of making indecent images of children.
Andy Robson, of Leslie Road, pleaded guilty to all four charges when he appeared at South West Surrey Magistrate’s Court in Guildford on 19 June.
The making offences are alleged to have taken place between March 2016 and February 2017, while the taking offences are alleged to have taken place between March 2010 and February 2017.
Robson was arrested after police seized a device believed to be hosting indecent images of children after a warrant was carried out at his home address on 22 February 2017.
Following his arrest, an investigation was immediately launched by Surrey Police in conjunction with Surrey Children’s Services as part of Surrey’s multi-agency safeguarding procedures. Further enquiries established that the images had been recorded covertly and consisted of groups of children getting changed following school sporting activities.
Detective Inspector Jon Vogel, from Surrey Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team, said:
“A warrant was carried out at Robson’s home address and we found a device containing indecent images of children at the premises. Following further enquiries, we established that these images were of pupils getting changed. The next step was to contact Surrey Children’s Services to ensure that the appropriate steps were taken to safeguard those involved and protect their wellbeing. We have had their full co-operation throughout this investigation.
“The taking and making indecent images of children is deplorable and the sentence handed out today reflects that. I hope that the outcome today, as well as Robson receiving a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and being put on the Sex Offenders register, is some consolation to the victims and their families.”
DI Vogel continued:
“Surrey Police treats all allegations of this nature extremely seriously and I would encourage anyone who has concerns about anyone believed to be involved in taking or making indecent images of children to report it to us straightaway.”
Robson was sentenced to 24 months in prison and received a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
