M27 motorway to remain closed overnight for Emergency resurfacing work

Part of the M27 motorway has been closed to traffic this morning

The M27 Junction 11 Fareham to Junction 12 M275 has been closed by Police following a two vehicle collision between an HGV and private car.

The collision has also caused a large fuel spillage.

The M27 inis closed eastbound between J11 (Fareham (N)) and J12 (Portsmouth (N) /M275).

Emergency services and traffic officers crews are at scene.

Road users travelling eastbound should follow the ‘Hollow Circle’ diversion symbol and exit the M27 at J11.

Take the 3rd exit and join the A27, continue along the A27 through Portchester and Portsbridge Interchange.

Re-join the M27 at J12.

Road users are advised to allow additional time and consider alternative routes for their journey.

The closure is likely to be in place for some time while recovery of the vehicle takes place.

Officers at the scene have advised that this closure could be in effect until lunchtime. Once recovery has taken place and inspections of the road surface will have to take place.

Update 11.10am: Following an inspection by the Highways agency bankarge section of road has been effected by the fuel spillage and will require resurfacing.
This is likely to take a number of hours. The closure is to remain inolace during the duration of the works being carried out.

Update:1.30am Highways England have advised that the current closure will remain over overnight for emergency resurfacing work to be carried out.
