Man Jailed for Life After Vicious Hammer Attack on Woman in South East London
A man has been jailed after he attacked a woman with a hammer and threatened her with knives in a “vicious” south east London attack.
In the early hours of October 22, 2023, police were called to a “domestic incident” and found the victim collapsed in the street covered in blood when they arrived.
It was later reported in court that Joel Victorious, of Waleran Flats, Southwark, hit the victim on the head repeatedly with a hammer.
The 51-year-old then chased her into the road and threatened her with knives.
Her children were present to witness the attack.
When police arrived, they found she had suffered life-threatening injuries and performed emergency CPR.
Police at the scene also provided “life-saving support” to Victorious who has stabbed himself during the “frenzied incident”.
Victorious was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey on September 5.

Three Men Jailed for Kidnap, Torture, and Killing of DJ in Tottenham
Three men have been jailed over the kidnap, torture and killing of a popular DJ in Tottenham.
Mehmet Koray Alpergin and his girlfriend Gozde Dalbudak were snatched as they returned home from an Italian restaurant in Mayfair in October 2022.
They were taken to an empty wine bar near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where 43-year-old Mr Alpergin was said to have been beaten, throttled, scalded with boiling water, stabbed, maimed and horrifically violated.
His body was then dumped in woodland near the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton and 34-year-old Ms Dalbudak spent two days locked in a toilet before being freed by her captors and given money for a taxi.

Top chef murdered at Notting Hill Carnival was ‘punched multiple times to head’
An east London man has appeared in court charged with murdering a top chef after “punching him multiple times in the head” near Notting Hill Carnival.
Omar Wilson, 31, appeared at the Old Bailey today (September 9) accused of attacking 41-year-old Mussie Imnetu, a chef who previously worked under celebrity personalities Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing.
The attack occurred outside Queensway’s Dr Power restaurant on August 26, during Notting Hill Carnival.
Mr Imnetu was discovered unconscious with a head wound at around 11.22pm.
After receiving immediate medical attention at the scene, he was taken to hospital where he later died on August 30.

The court heard that Wilson, of Napier Road, Leytonstone, was originally charged with causing grievous bodily harm, but following Mr Imnetu’s death, the charge was changed to murder.
