Man Found Guilty of Murder Near Richmond Bridge
Ross Hamilton, 34, from Isleworth, has been convicted of murdering 31-year-old Reece Newcombe in a brutal stabbing near Richmond Bridge in November 2022. The unanimous jury at the Old Bailey found Hamilton guilty after a thorough Metropolitan Police investigation.
Violence Erupted After World Cup Clash
The attack happened in the early hours of 26 November outside Viva nightclub, following a World Cup match between England and the USA. Hamilton, already acting aggressively, taunted several people before getting into a fight with Reece. He then viciously stabbed him in the neck with a broken glass shard.
Tragic Death and Manhunt
Despite desperate attempts by an off-duty police officer and emergency teams, Reece died hours later in hospital. Hamilton fled the scene but surrendered to police two days afterward. He also faces charges for assaulting another person that same night. Sentencing is scheduled for 11 October.
Family Speaks Out
Detective Inspector Kevin Martin called the stabbing a “cowardly act” and praised Reece’s family for their strength during this painful two-year ordeal.
Reece’s family described Hamilton as a “callous bully” and expressed heartbreak over losing a loving father and friend. They thanked witnesses, police, and the jury for bringing justice.
This case shines a harsh spotlight on the horrific impact of violent crime on families and communities across the UK.
