81-Year-Old Woman Hit at Pedestrian Crossing in Serious Collision
An 81-year-old woman was struck by a van while crossing the road on Friday 4 November 2022. The incident happened around 12:30pm at the pedestrian crossing on Foundry Street near Jefferys Drive.
Mercedes Van Hits Pedestrian at Busy Junction
A Mercedes VITO people carrier travelling along Birch Lane turned onto Foundry Street and collided with the elderly woman as she crossed. Emergency services rushed to the scene and took her to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Driver Cooperates, Police Seek Witnesses and Footage
The driver stayed at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. No arrests have been made.
Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for witnesses. Officers want anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the collision to come forward.
