A pedestrian tragically died after being hit by a Ford Fiesta at a busy Herts junction last Thursday night.

Local Woman Vipuli Palihakkarra Killed in Crash

The horror unfolded at around 9.20pm on 14 April at the junction of Eleanor Cross Road and Eleanor Way. A white Ford Fiesta collided with a female pedestrian, later named as 49-year-old Vipuli Palihakkarra from Waltham Cross" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Waltham Cross.

Emergency crews raced to the scene. Vipuli was rushed to hospital in a serious condition but sadly died later that evening. Her grieving family is now receiving specialist support.

Driver Remains at Scene to Aid Police

The Fiesta driver stayed put and is fully cooperating with the police investigation. Sergeant David Burstow, leading the inquiry for the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed condolences:

“Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who sadly died following this incident.”

He added: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage.”
