Detectives hunting burglars in Thurnscoe are on the lookout for a red Ford Focus estate involved in a shocking incident on Wednesday (22 March).
71-Year-Old Woman Injured in Collision
Police were alerted just before 8.10pm when a 71-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle while trying to stop it being stolen on St Helens Close. The collision left her with serious injuries. She remains in hospital receiving treatment.
The drama unfolded after burglars broke into a home on St Helens Close. The woman returned, confronted the thieves, and attempted to stop them from stealing her car. The vehicle then sped off and struck her before being abandoned nearby.
Car Found with False Plates, Police Urge Eyewitnesses to Come Forward
The Ford Focus, fitted with false number plates, was recovered in Thurnscoe on Saturday. Officers are appealing for anyone who spotted the car in the Barnsley area around the time of the burglary or in the days that followed to speak up.
