Beloved Headteacher Remembered
Emma Pattison was the Head of Epsom College and is remembered as a “wonderful teacher” and a “delightful person” with a “distinguished career.” The college is currently named Independent School of the Year.
Police Launch Investigation, No Third-Party Suspected
The South East Coast Ambulance Service alerted Surrey Police, who arrived at the scene around 1.10 a.m. Authorities confirmed the deaths and revealed the family’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support.
“At this stage, police are confident this is an isolated incident with no third-party involvement,” a Surrey Police spokesman said.
Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey expressed condolences: “I want to assure a thorough investigation will take place to bring some peace in these traumatic circumstances. We ask for privacy for the family at this difficult time.”
Community Left Reeling but Police Offer Reassurance
Epsom and Ewell Borough Commander, Inspector Jon Vale, said the tragedy has caused concern locally but reaffirmed officers will stay nearby to reassure students, parents, and staff while the investigation continues.
The deaths have been reported to the Coroner.
Dr Alastair Wells, Chair of Governors at Epsom College, said: “We are in utter shock and disbelief. Emma enriched the lives of pupils and staff alike. We ask for time and space to grieve and will commemorate Emma and her family when the time is right.”
A strong police presence remains at the site and surrounding area as the inquiry progresses. The local community’s patience and understanding have been gratefully acknowledged.
