Rapist Michael Alleyn Jailed for Over 11 Years
Michael Alleyn, 26, of no fixed address, was slammed with an 11-year and two-month prison sentence at Wood Green Crown Court on 10 March. He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm, and theft.
Attack in Supported Living Home
The court heard how Alleyn struck in the early hours of 9 June 2022. He entered a supported living accommodation where the victim, a woman in her late 20s, was staying. When she answered her door, Alleyn punched her in the face before raping her. He then attacked and raped her a second time, stole her bank card, and fled.
Staff at the venue were alerted by the victim, who then went to a north London hospital for treatment. She suffered facial injuries, including a fractured nasal bone, and police were called.
Swift Police Manhunt and Arrest
Detectives launched an immediate investigation. Witnesses reported hearing screams from the victim’s room. CCTV footage confirmed Alleyn’s presence at the scene. Specialist officers supported the victim throughout her medical exam and ongoing care.
Following a manhunt, police tracked Alleyn to Thornsett Road, SE20, on 13 June. He was spotted on the street, tried to run, but was chased down and arrested by officers on foot.
Alleyn denied involvement during police interview, claiming no evidence would link him to the victim. However, forensic tests matched his DNA to that found in the victim’s room. He was charged on the spot and remanded in custody.
Detective Vows Justice and Support for Victims
Detective Constable Ed Day said: “The victim was alone and asleep when she was woken and subjected to a horrific attack by Alleyn, who was loosely known to her. Her bravery during this terrible ordeal has been incredible. We will continue to support her.”
“Violence against women and girls is a top priority for the Met. All women deserve to feel safe at home and in public. When incidents happen, we will investigate and bring offenders to justice.”
