Bradford Man Slapped with Suspended Sentence for Sick Control and Abuse
Todd Pappin, 31, has been convicted at Leeds Crown Court for controlling and coercive behaviour against two women in abusive relationships.
Controlled Lives and Fear: The Abuse
Leeds District Safeguarding Unit charged Pappin after an investigation revealed he monitored and demeaned the women during relationships in Ilkley (2016-2017) and Leeds (2019-2020).
- One victim was barred from seeing family or friends, buying new clothes, or wearing makeup, suffering physical assaults.
- The other was manipulated and isolated, stalked by Pappin who sent abusive messages and showed up uninvited at her home and work after a breakup.
Justice Served but Prison Awaits if He Reoffends
The abuse was exposed after a friend of the second victim reported it to police. DC Rachel Jackson uncovered the earlier victim during enquiries.
Pappin, from Carr Lane, Low Moor, Bradford, was sentenced to two years in prison – suspended for two years. He must complete a relationships course, 21 days rehabilitation, 150 hours unpaid work, and is under an indefinite restraining order banning contact with the victims.
The judge warned Pappin: “Breach these conditions or commit further domestic abuse and you’ll be behind bars.”
Police Vow to Tackle Domestic Abuse Head-On
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lambert of Leeds District Safeguarding said: “Pappin’s sustained pattern of abuse has had a traumatic impact on these women. No one should endure such treatment from someone they trusted.”
“We hope this conviction brings some reassurance. We take all reports seriously and have specialist officers supporting victims to see justice done.”
“West Yorkshire Police is firmly committed to tackling violence against women and girls, particularly domestic abuse. We urge victims and their networks to report abuse to us or partner agencies, including the National Domestic Abuse Helpline.”
