Emergency services have launched a search for a man after a voice was heard calling for help from the direction of a lake near Gloucester. Police and firefighters were called to the area off Sandhurst Lane shortly before midnight on Friday, August 7, following concerns that someone could be in difficulty. Gloucestershire Police said a man’s voice was heard calling for help from the direction of the lake at around 11.45pm.
Emergency crews search lake
Police and fire crews attended and began searching the area during the night. The operation was temporarily suspended because of concerns for the safety of those carrying out the search. Emergency searches resumed on Saturday morning as efforts continued to establish whether anyone was in the water or surrounding area. Officers are also carrying out enquiries to determine whether anybody has been reported missing locally. At this stage, police have not confirmed the identity of the person whose voice was reportedly heard or whether anyone has been located.
Police appeal for information
Gloucestershire Police are appealing for anyone who may have information that could help establish what happened to contact the force. Anyone with information should contact police quoting incident 561 of August 7. The search and enquiries remain ongoing.
