Election Scandal: Tory Campaign Boss Caught Faking Nomination Signatures!

A Tory election boss has been nailed for doctoring nomination forms in a huge local election scandal. Diana Danescu, 28, from South Woodford, was found guilty of 16 offences involving fake signatures in the London Borough of Hackney.

Faking Signatures to Push Tory Candidates

The conviction comes after a five-week trial at Southwark Crown Court and a detailed probe by the Metropolitan Police’s Special Enquiry Team. Danescu, once the Conservative Campaign Headquarters’ Borough Campaign Manager, acted rogue by posing as election agent for 29 Tory hopefuls during the 2018 Hackney local elections.

She tricked local electors by pretending to represent rival parties like Labour and the Greens while gathering nomination signatures. Shockingly, many names and signatures on the forms were forged or added without genuine consent.

Serious Sentencing and Police Praise

  • Six months’ jail sentence suspended for 18 months
  • 200 hours community service ordered
  • £2,000 court costs contribution
  • Statutory court surcharge imposed

Met Police Detective Constable Jim Morrison slammed Danescu’s actions: “She deliberately misled Hackney voters and submitted names of people who hadn’t signed. We’re committed to protecting democracy’s integrity.”

He also thanked residents who bravely provided evidence, helping to expose this attempt to rig the election process.
