Police Review Footage From Rampage

Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen Speaks Out
“This was a dynamic police operation, deploying significant resources. We have always supported peaceful protests in Bristol. What we witnessed last night was not a protest — it was disorder. Those responsible will face justice. We will be relentless in tracking down everyone who fuelled this violence and chaos.”
She also praised officers for their bravery under violent assault and thanked all involved in the complex policing operation and continuing investigation.
Community Impact and Police Appeal
Despite the melee, damage was limited to one police vehicle. Chief Inspector Hayward-Melen thanked the local community, partners, and stakeholders for their support during the tense night.
“I’m incredibly proud of my colleagues who faced intense violence. Thankfully, damage to the city was minimal, apart from one police vehicle. We appreciate the ongoing support from our communities and partners.”
