Baby Elsa Found Abandoned in East London Shopping Bag
A shocking discovery in Newham, East London, saw a newborn baby girl found abandoned in a shopping bag on January 18. Rescued by a quick-thinking dog walker braving freezing temperatures, the tiny tot was rushed to hospital and named Baby Elsa by staff.
Tragic Siblings Share the Same Fate
DNA tests revealed Baby Elsa isn’t alone. She has two siblings – Baby Harry and Baby Roman – who were both found abandoned in the same area back in 2017 and 2019. All three children’s parents remain unknown, prompting an ongoing Metropolitan Police investigation into their identities.
Judge Lifts Reporting Ban, Spotlight on Abandonment Case
The East London Family Court recently lifted reporting restrictions after a request by the PA news agency and the BBC. Judge Carol Atkinson called the case “very, very unusual” and insisted it’s in the public interest to know about the parents who abandoned three babies in such a way.
“There is a mother and father out there who felt the need to relinquish their children in this way, three times,” said Judge Atkinson.
Investigation Continues as Baby Elsa’s Future Hangs in the Balance
Baby Elsa was found less than an hour old near Greenway and High Street South in East Ham. While her siblings have been adopted, Elsa’s birth registration is currently on hold due to the active investigation. Detective Sergeant Laurence Dight from the Metropolitan Police urged anyone with information to come forward referencing CAD 6876/18 Jan.
