Daylight Shooting Shocks Local Community in Edmonton

Police were called to a hospital at 2.33pm on Saturday, January 7, after a 26-year-old man was admitted with a gunshot wound. His family have been informed.

Brazen Attack on Derby Road

Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger revealed the victim was in a car with friends parked on Derby Road, EN3, when at least two suspects suddenly opened fire before fleeing on foot.

We believe the victim was in a car with friends parked up in Derby Road EN3 when they were approached by at least two suspects who fired without warning and then fled on foot,” said Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger.

Community Horrified by Daylight Violence

The shooting has left locals stunned. Detective Chief Inspector Alger added, “The local community is horrified and disgusted by such brazen violence in broad daylight on their streets. We share that sentiment and are determined to identify and prosecute those responsible.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. “The answer may lie within the community. We’ve heard from some but want more to speak up,” she said.

Calls for Anonymity and Community Cooperation

Detective Superintendent Marco Bardetti said, “We are supporting Specialist Crime and working closely with local partners, advisory groups, and community forums. It’s vital police and the public work together to catch the culprits.”
