Teen Killer Jailed for Life Over Birthday Park Murders
Danyal Hussein, 19, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 35 years behind bars at the Old Bailey on 28 October. The Eltham resident was found guilty of the brutal murders of sisters Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, who were stabbed to death while celebrating a birthday in Fryent Country Park, Wembley.
Cold-Blooded Attack Motivated by Bizarre Demonic Pact
Detective Inspector Maria Green of the Specialist Crime Command described Hussein as “dangerous, arrogant and violent,” showing no remorse from start to finish. Hussein’s twisted motive came to light during his trial: a blood-signed handwritten contract with a “demon” demanding he sacrifice women every six months in exchange for lottery wins.
On 6 June 2020, Hussein targeted Bibaa, 46, and Nicole, 27, stabbing Bibaa eight times and Nicole 28 times after apparently watching them for hours. He then tried to hide their bodies and disposed of evidence in a nearby pond.
Chilling Timeline of a Night of Terror
- 6 June: Sisters seen joyfully celebrating with friends in Fryent Country Park, captured on CCTV buying party supplies.
- Evening: Guests leave, leaving Bibaa and Nicole alone, dancing and taking hundreds of photos – last at 1:13am as Hussein arrives.
- Hussein, spotted leaving his home hours earlier, buys alcohol, balaclava, and shovels, then waits inside the park for four hours.
- After the attack, Hussein carries the bodies 75 metres, attempts a cover-up and leaves the park at 4:07am, with injuries matching blood found at the scene.
Police Work Nets Conviction: A Family’s Strength Amid Horror
The discovery of the sisters’ bodies sparked a major investigation led by DCI Simon Harding. Relentless police efforts uncovered Hussein’s blood on discarded party items and a knife stained with both his and Nicole’s DNA. CCTV, witness statements, and a public tip about a suspect with injured hands led to Hussein’s arrest on 1 July 2020.
Hussein tried to hide his trail by repeatedly accessing Bibaa’s phone and even reported his bank card stolen to cover purchases linked to the crimes. Despite overwhelming evidence, he refused to answer questions or name any witnesses during his trial.
DI Maria Green said: “This has been a shocking and chilling case. I hope his lengthy sentence brings some comfort to Bibaa and Nicole’s loved ones, who have shown incredible dignity throughout.”
Hussein’s dark fantasy and callous actions have left a community mourning two innocent lives stolen in cold blood as they celebrated a special day.
