Premier League Darts Fans Fume Over Sky-High Beer Prices at The O2
Darts fans watching the Premier League Darts final at London’s The O2 on Thursday night enjoyed a thrilling clash but were left bitterly disappointed by outrageously priced beer at the venue.
Eye-Watering Bar Prices Spoil The Fun
Even the cheapest pint slammed fans’ pockets, starting at a whopping £8.95. That included popular lagers Budweiser, Stella Artois, and Camden Stout. Premium brews like Camden Pale Ale and Camden Hells Lager commanded even more – up to £9.50 a pint. Cider lovers weren’t spared, paying £8.95 for Thatchers Gold and £9.25 for Thatchers Fusion.
Social Media Explodes With Outrage
The sky-high prices sparked a backlash online. One fan slammed, “Those prices are very steep… disgusting really, especially served in plastic beakers.” Another added, “Disgusting prices them,” while a third quipped, “At least if you buy two, you only pay twice the price.”
Another fan nailed it:
“They have a captive audience of clowns whose rationale for attending is fancy dress, drinking industrial quantities of overpriced beer and chanting inane songs while watching the action on a huge screen. Manna from heaven for the O2.”
Luke Littler Shines Despite The Price Gouging
Despite the beer backlash, darts took centre stage as 17-year-old prodigy Luke Littler struck an 11-7 win over Luke Humphries. Littler sealed his first televised title with an incredible nine-darter and pocketed a cool £275,000 prize.
In a post-match Sky Sports interview, Littler was buzzing:
“For all the doubters, you’re not doubting me any more! I’ve just picked up this. It’s so good to win but in front of my family and my girlfriend! I don’t know what to do. I’ve hit a nine-darter on the World Series and so did Phil – now I’ve hit one in the final here and so did he.”
Fans Won’t Forget The Price Pinch
While Littler’s top-notch darts wowed the crowd, fans weren’t about to forget the steep drink prices. One summed it up harshly: “Disgusting prices considering how everyone will chuck their pints in the air.”
As crowds streamed out, debate raged over the exorbitant bar prices – overshadowing what should have been a night to remember for darts lovers.
