Coventry Courier Caught Smuggling £830k Worth of Cocaine
David Ollive used an encrypted messaging app to arrange the pick-up of Class A drugs from Coventry. Between March and May 2020, he made at least nine trips, delivering 22 kilos of cocaine with a whopping wholesale value of over £830,000.
The Trusted Drug Runner and Cash Carrier
Ollive wasn’t just ferrying cocaine; he was also trusted to transport the criminal cash back to his handlers. His role was pivotal in the drug operation.
Operation Venetic Nabs Ollive
Northumbria Police, working through Operation Venetic, swiftly uncovered the scheme. Ollive was arrested in October 2020. At first, he denied any wrongdoing, claiming the trips were for his pool table restoration and supply business.
Guilty Plea and Jail Sentence
The 29-year-old from Southerland Avenue, Coventry, faced two counts of conspiracy to supply cocaine. In February 2023, he was charged and later pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court in March. On Thursday, Ollive was slammed with an eight-year prison sentence.
