Eastbourne Burglar Nabbed in Multi-Heist Spree
Nathan Higgins Caught After String of Thefts
Nathan Higgins, 25, a homeless man from Eastbourne, has admitted to two burglaries and three fraud offences at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 4. Higgins, who has no fixed address, was arrested on January 3 after being linked to several crimes across Sussex.
Targeting Pubs and Restaurants
Just days before his arrest, on January 2, Higgins was caught on CCTV breaking into La Piazza restaurant in Station Parade, Eastbourne. He and an accomplice made off with multiple bottles of alcohol. The same officer identifying him from previous crimes connected Higgins to the footage.
Additional Crimes Uncovered
While in custody, Higgins was tied to another burglary on December 12 at the West Hill Tavern in Brighton’s Buckingham Place. CCTV showed him stealing cash and alcohol. The mounting evidence led to his formal charges.
Guilty Plea and Awaiting Sentence
Higgins pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and three fraud charges. He remains in custody and is set for sentencing on February 26.
