Mastermind Convicted 19 Years After Murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky
The man behind the brutal robbery that led to the murder of Police Constable Sharon Beshenivsky in 2005 has finally been caught. Nearly 19 years after the deadly raid, Piran Ditta Khan, now 75, has been convicted of her murder.

The armed raid ended with PC Beshenivsky being shot at point-blank range and PC Teresa Milburn seriously wounded. Three gunmen involved were already jailed for life.

Khan fled to Pakistan just two months after the robbery. Without an extradition treaty, it took years of diplomatic wrangling before he was finally brought home in 2020 to face justice.
Justice At Last for Fallen Officer and Her Family
PC Beshenivsky, a mother of three and police officer for only nine months, was killed outside the travel agency on her daughter’s fourth birthday. The conviction of Khan brings a long-awaited sense of closure for her family and colleagues.
“We promised PC Beshenivsky’s husband that those responsible would be brought to justice. It’s been a long fight – but today, that promise is fulfilled,” said Andy Brennan, the former senior detective who led the case.
Khan’s fingerprints were found at a safe house linked to the robbers. His inside knowledge of the business’s security sealed his fate in court.
The verdict marks the end of a dark chapter, proving that no criminal can escape the law, no matter how long it takes.
