County Line Dealer Locked Up for Six Years After Drug Scam Busted in Kent
Leon Davis Caught Running Cocaine and Heroin Operation
Leon Davis, 22, from Maran Way, Erith, was nabbed in south-east London in May 2020 after a thorough Kent Police investigation. The young dealer admitted to supplying cocaine and heroin during his guilty plea at Canterbury Crown Court on 21 August.
‘Deano’ Drug Line Exposed
In October 2019, officers uncovered messages from the notorious ‘Deano’ county line, pushing class A drugs to users in Margate. Teaming up with the Met Police, Kent officers identified Davis as the mastermind.
Davis was arrested in November 2019 but initially released while the probe continued. He then handed control of the phone line to a 17-year-old, hoping to evade arrest.
Police Crack Down on Drug Supply Chain
However, Kent Police found drugs still flooding the area. Both Davis and the teenage dealer were arrested and charged on 15 May 2020. On 18 November, Davis was sentenced to six years behind bars.
Detective Constable Jake Griffiths of Kent Police’s County Line and Gangs Team said: “Kent Police is committed to preventing drugs being brought into the county and sold to vulnerable people in our communities. The length of the sentence in this case reflects the fact that class A drugs like those being peddled by Davis and others inevitably lead to knock-on crime and anti-social behaviour in the areas where they are dealt.”
