Man, 25, Charged with Murder After Woman Fatally Stabbed in Willesden
Stabbing Shocks Pound Lane
Detectives launched a major probe after a brutal stabbing on Pound Lane, Willesden, on Saturday afternoon. Police were called just after 4pm on 31 January to reports of an attack. Officers and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and found a 50-year-old woman with fatal stab wounds. Despite urgent efforts, she was declared dead at the scene.
Suspect Held and Remanded
Najiib Raytaan, 25, from Harlesden Road, NW10, was charged with murder on Monday, 2 February. He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court the next day and was remanded in custody. Raytaan is set to face Old Bailey on 4 February.
Victim and Suspect Known to Each Other
Police confirmed the victim and Raytaan were acquainted. There are no other suspects being sought. Specialist officers are offering support to the victim’s grieving family.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family, friends and all those impacted.
“Several members of the public witnessed the attack. Many have spoken to police and been offered support.
