New Milton Man Dodges Jail After Brutal Domestic Assault

18-Month Community Order for Jack Marsden

Jack David Marsden, 28, from Marryat Road, New Milton, has been slapped with an 18-month community order following a nasty domestic assault earlier this year. The Southampton Crown Court handed down the sentence on Thursday, 19 September.

Alongside the community order, Marsden must complete up to five rehabilitation activity days and a 30-day accredited programme aimed at turning his behaviour around.

Violent Attack Leaves Victim with Cuts and Bruises

Marsden pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a shocking incident on 27 June. The victim suffered cuts, bruises, and swelling to her head, face, and ribs during the attack at her own home.

The defendant has been in custody since his arrest, but the court opted for a community-based sentence instead of jail, focusing on rehabilitation rather than incarceration.

Police Push Zero-Tolerance on Domestic Abuse

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson slammed domestic abuse, saying, “Nobody—whether a woman, man, or child—should ever be subjected to domestic abuse in an environment they perceive as a safe space.”

Victims are urged to come forward despite the trauma involved. The force emphasised their commitment to cracking down on abusers, urging anyone suffering or aware of abuse to report it immediately by calling 101, visiting their website, or dialling 999 in emergencies.
