Police Launch Fresh Appeal Over Shocking Sex Attack in Basingstoke
Police have issued a fresh appeal for information following a serious sexual assault on a 24-year-old woman in Basingstoke three months ago. The attack happened between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016, near the playpark by 1 Road and Maldive Road, Popley.
New Description of Suspect Released
After weeks of investigation and specialist support for the victim, detectives are now releasing a clear description of the man they want to trace:
- White male, mid to late 20s
- About 5ft 7ins tall
- Not slim, with a bit of a stomach
- Brown hair – longer on top, shorter sides
- Scruffy facial hair
- Wearing blue denim jeans
- Blue fleece jumper with a partial zip down the front
Detective Urges Public to Step Forward
“This is a serious and isolated incident involving a stranger. We need to identify this man,” said Detective Constable Tracy West. “Do you recognise the description? Could it be someone you know? Please come forward.”
