Knife-Wielding Thief Nabbed in Chippenham Caught Red-Handed
A career criminal was caught with a knife and stolen goods in Chippenham and has now pleaded guilty to multiple offences.
Jody Sidelnik’s Crime Spree Comes to an End
Jody Sidelnik, 42, homeless and from Calne, faced Swindon Magistrates Court today (13/11) charged with:
- Handling stolen goods
- Theft from a shop (x2)
- Possession of a knife in public
- Obstructing police
Officers were called to the Hungry 1 pub on Rowden Hill after an off-duty cop spotted Sidelnik trying to nick a bike on Saturday night. When police arrived, they found him carrying a knife and several stolen bottles of booze.
Long Wanted Fleeing Criminal Finally Caught
Sidelnik was first arrested in April for handling stolen goods but abused officers and made a run for it. He evaded capture until this weekend when a warrant led to his arrest.
“Sidelnik is a prolific offender who I am pleased has now been put before the courts and pleaded guilty for multiple offences,” said Sgt Jamie Ball.
“Thanks to the off-duty officer who alerted us and detained Sidelnik until we arrived. Our Chippenham teams acted fast to make the arrest. Safer Business Action Week reminds us all – businesses must report shoplifting to help us catch criminals quickly.”
Sidelnik will be sentenced on December 14.
