Knife-Wielding Teen Steals Scooter in Broad Daylight
A brazen teenager threatened a boy with a knife before ripping off his electric scooter in Strood, Kent. The shocking robbery unfolded at around 3pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, on Darnley Road.
Victim Spots Thief at Rochester Train Station
The boy, who was riding the scooter, was confronted by the armed teen. The suspect flashed a knife tucked into his waistband and made threats before snatching the scooter. The victim later spotted the thief entering Rochester train station, still in possession of the stolen scooter.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
- Officers arrived swiftly and arrested the suspect on site.
- A member of the public recovered the stolen scooter.
- Police also seized a kitchen knife during the search.
Suspect Linked to Previous Knifepoint Robbery
Further investigation connected the 16-year-old Rochester resident to a similar incident the day before. Another teenager was threatened and robbed of his phone and watch in Cuxton Road, Strood.
He was later charged with two counts of robbery and possessing a knife in a public place.
The youth remains in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on June 1st.
